ABOUT THE CONTEST
The Florida Debate Initiative invites students across Florida to participate in the 2026 America 250 Speech Contest. As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, this statewide event invites students to reflect on what they love most about America and share their thoughts in a thoughtful, well-crafted speech.

In honor of America's 250th anniversary, we want to hear what YOU love most about our country!

What do you love most about America — and why does it make you proud?
HOW THE CONTEST WORKS
Students write an original speech based on the contest prompt.
Students record an audio-only version of their speech.
Students submit both the typed transcript and the audio recording, along with a completed Media Release Form, to this link by the deadline.
Submissions are reviewed by a panel of judges for content, clarity, delivery, and adherence to contest guidelines. Submissions will be judged according to division: grades 3-5, grades 6-7, and 8th grade.
Top winners in each division will receive cash prizes. First place winners will receive $100, second place $50, and third place $25.
