We’re incredibly proud to share the story of Charles Flores, a remarkable student from Hagerty High School who went above and beyond to help bring the Florida Debate Initiative’s new headquarters to life. Charles selflessly donated over 100 hours of hard work to renovate our space, pouring his time and talent into creating a welcoming environment for students, coaches, and supporters of speech and debate. His generosity and dedication inspired the FDI Board and our President, Abraham López, to create the FDI Scholarship Fund. This $1,000 award recognizes students who embody the spirit of service and leadership. Fittingly, Charles became the inaugural recipient of this scholarship, which was presented to him at the grand opening of our headquarters last month. Charles, your hard work doesn’t just shine through the walls of our HQ—it inspires the entire FDI community.
